SANTA CLARA -- Continuing a day-long theme of addressing offensive needs, the 49ers selected USC offensive lineman Marcus Martin in the third round (No. 70 overall).

Martin could challenge Daniel Kilgore and others for the starting center job that's been vacated by free agent Jonathan Goodwin.

Although Martin played center last season, the Crenshaw High product was primarily a left guard his first two seasons at USC. Martin was the first true freshman to start on the Trojans' line since 2004.

Earlier Friday, the 49ers acquired wideout Stevie Johnson in a trade with the Buffalo Bills, and they selected Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde in the second round. Thursday's first-round choice was used on defensive back Jimmie Ward.
