Television, like baseball, is a game of failure. Strikeouts are much more plentiful than home runs.

What follows is a comprehensive list of broadcast network shows that aired during the 2013-14 season, but will not be back in the fall.

With a few exceptions (such as "How I Met Your Mother"), they are lowly underachievers that came and went without making much of a ratings ripple.

Now let us allow them to rest in pieces:

ABC

The Assets; Back in the Game; Betrayal; Killer Women; Lucky 7; Mind Games; Mixology; The Neighbors; Once Upon a Time in Wonderland; Suburgatory; Super Fun Night; Trophy Wife.

FOX

Almost Human; Dads; Enlisted; Raising Hope; Rake; Surviving Jack; The X Factor.

The CW

The Carrie Diaries; Nikita; Star-Crossed; The Tomorrow People.

CBS

Bad Teacher; The Crazy Ones; Friends with Better Lives; Hostages; How I Met Your Mother; Intelligence; We Are Men.

NBC

Believe; Crisis; Community; Dracula; Growing Up Fisher; Ironside; The Michael J. Fox Show; Revolution; Sean Saves the World; Welcome to the Family.
