BERKELEY -- A hiker on Sunday found the body of a man who appears to have fallen to his death in a steep rocky area off Grizzly Peak Boulevard in Berkeley, UC Berkeley police say.

The Alameda County Coroner's Office on Sunday night was working to identify the victim, described as a Latino man in his early 20s.

It looks like the victim may have fallen from a rocky overlook 100 feet down to the area where the hiker spotted him and called police at 2:20 p.m., Lt. Eric Tejada said.

A death under similar circumstances occurred in the same area about a year ago, Tejada said.
