OAKLAND -- Police are investigating the 31st homicide of the year after a man was shot Monday night near the Fruitvale district.

The man was shot at 7:12 p.m. in the 2600 block of International Boulevard while sitting in a car. No one else was injured.

Investigators said another vehicle drove up to his car and someone fired shots at the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's name, age and city of residence were not immediately released.

Police are on the scene but have not made any arrests, and do not have a motive in the killing.

There were 39 homicides in Oakland at this time last year.
