ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The A's will be without center fielder Coco Crisp or shortstop Jed Lowrie in their lineup Wednesday night against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Lowrie had hoped to be able to play after missing Tuesday's start against the Tampa Bay Rays with a stiff neck.

Crisp came out of Tuesday's game with a recurrence of the neck problems that kept him out of seven consecutive games earlier this month. He'd only returned to active status on Friday in Cleveland.

In addition to being without Lowrie and Crisp, left fielder Yoenis Cespedes will serve as the designated hitter Wednesday against the Rays. Brandon Moss will play left field and Kyle Blanks, just acquired from the San Diego Padres, will get his first Oakland start.
