HALF MOON BAY -- A suspected gang member was arrested Thursday on suspicion of uttering a gang statement to a man sitting in his truck and stabbing him in the arm Thursday in a shopping center parking lot.

Francisco Miramontes, 20, of Half Moon Bay, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and participation in a criminal street gang, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

At about 1:39 p.m., a man, who is not believed to be a gang member, was sitting in his truck when Miramontes is suspected of yelling a gang epithet, stabbing him in the arm and running out of the Strawflower Shopping Center on North Cabrillo Highway, according to the sheriff's office.

The victim was taken to a hospital and treated for a nonlife-threatening wound, the sheriff's office said.

Miramontes was arrested hours later at his residence and booked into Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City.
