Punk rock legend and X singer Exene Cervenka has reportedly tweeted what she says is evidence that last week's mass shooting in Santa Barbara was a hoax to further gun control.

Cervenka sent a number of tweets since suspect Elliot Rodger allegedly took his own life last Friday, after shooting or stabbing six people to death and wounding 13 others near the campus of UC Santa Barbara. One included a YouTube video that called the shooting "staged for gun control." She tweeted, "sick of these hoaxes."

But wait ... she's not calling the deaths a hoax.

"(I) never said no one died. it's the media that covers up and lies to us about these events. questioning authority is ok, people," she wrote.

Radio.com reported the 58-year-old called herself a "conspiracy therapist" in a video back in March.

That's one term for it.

A rep for X didn't immediately reply to a request for comment by Spin.com.

Cervenka -- who still performs with X and makes solo records -- announced in 2009 she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
