OAKLAND -- Jury deliberations began Tuesday at the murder trial for a Modesto man accused of drowning a 24-year-old Livermore mother in her shower in 2002.
The prosecution is seeking first-degree murder against 38-year-old Bryan Davis, who also goes by Bryan Vulgamore, in the Jan. 8, 2002 slaying of Cecilia Garcia.
Davis' attorney says he is innocent of the killing, and the prosecution is relying on false statements that Davis allegedly claimed to a friend that he accidentally harmed Garcia and then put her in the shower to wash off his DNA.
Garcia was found drowned in a running shower at her home with her nose smashed and what appeared to be strangulation marks on her neck.
Davis, a family friend of Garcia, was arrested for the killing in 2010.
