RICHMOND -- The man who was shot and critically injured in an apparent botched robbery on a Richmond street Tuesday remains hospitalized.

The man was shot in the stomach after being confronted by a suspect in the 500 block of Fifth Street around 4:20 p.m., according to Richmond police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov.

The suspect fled on foot and the victim was flown to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
