BERKELEY -- Two teenagers were injured late Saturday in a shooting at La Quinta Inn in Berkeley.

Officers responded at 10:49 p.m. to the hotel at 920 University Avenue after a caller reported a disturbance there, Berkeley police spokeswoman Jennifer Coats said. While en route, officers received several other reports of gunfire and a call stating people had been shot.

Police arrived on scene to find two teenage boys suffering from gunshot wounds, and they were taken to the hospital for treatment, Coats said. While the nature of the boys' injuries was not immediately known, Coats said their wounds were not considered life-threatening.

A possible suspect vehicle was seen leaving the hotel parking lot about the time of the shooting, Coats said. The white sedan was last seen driving east on University Avenue.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Berkeley police at 510-981-5900, or to call Bay Area Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-222-TIPS (8477). The investigation is ongoing.
