OAKLAND -- A 15-year-old girl was killed, and two men in a car with her were wounded in one of two shootings in East Oakland within 90 minutes Saturday night, police said.

A man was killed in the other shooting.

Police said the girl, whose name was not released, was a passenger in a car being driven by a 25-year-old man about 10:27 p.m. Saturday on 83rd Avenue. A 27-year-old man was also a passenger in the car.

Police said the three are not related, and are believed to be friends. All are from Oakland.

Sgt. Randy Brandwood said as the car neared A Street a gunman outside opened fire on the vehicle hitting all three occupants. The driver was able to back the car up before stopping against a fence in the 8200 block of A Street.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two men were transported to a hospital where the driver was in stable condition, and the other man in critical condition. Brandwood said when investigators tried to interview the driver, he was uncooperative.

Brandwood said police don't have a motive for the shooting and no arrests have been made.

In the other incident at 11:51 p.m. Saturday, 20-year-old Maceo Bell was shot in front of his home in the 1900 block of 48th Avenue. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene at 12:06 a.m. Sunday.

Police have not determined a motive for the shooting and no arrests have been made.

The two killings brought Oakland's homicide total for the year to 39. Last year at this time there were 44 in the city.
