Suspected ATM robber arrested in San Francisco
A San Francisco man has been arrested on suspicion of two strong-arm robberies at a Grand Lake district ATM in Oakland last week, police said Wednesday.
Police were led to the suspect through video surveillance cameras in the area and witnesses' testimony.
The suspect was identified as Demarcus Martin, 23.
Police said the robberies happened on June 5 and June 6 at a Bank of America machine in the 400 block of Lake Park Avenue.
Police said that both victims were men. During each incident, the suspect would approach while the victims were using ATMs and force them to take more cash from their accounts.
A video camera caught a partial license plate number from the suspect's getaway vehicle.
Martin was arrested in San Francisco on Saturday after being involved in a traffic wreck in the same vehicle.
He has refused to talk to police.
