OAKLAND -- A man was shot early Friday not far from City Hall and a 17-year-old boy was wounded in another shooting Thursday night in East Oakland, police said.

Both victims were shot in the leg and will recover, authorities said. The shootings are not related, police said.

The 24-year-old man was shot about 1:40 a.m. Friday in the 1700 block of Jefferson Street.

He told police he was walking to his car when he heard gunfire and realized he had been hit. He was taken to a hospital where he was in stable condition. Police don't have a motive for the shooting and no arrests were made.

The boy was shot just before 7 p.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of East 20th Street.
