OAKLAND--Firefighters quickly put out an apartment fire Friday night that broke out in a two-story building, the Oakland Fire Department said.

The blaze was reported at 9:26 p.m. on Hollis Street and 34th Street in Oakland and may have started in the kitchen, said Battalion Chief Coy Justice. One person was reported hanging from the apartment window before being rescued. No injuries were reported.

The fire was contained to one unit and the cause remains under investigation.
