OAKLAND -- After a brief search along city streets Saturday afternoon, police arrested a convicted felon with local gang ties who was wanted for a reported parole violation.
About 1:30 p.m., Oakland Housing Authority officers spotted the wanted suspect near the 800 block of 45th Street. But when officers tried to detain the suspect he ran, said Oakland Police Department Lt. Christopher Bolton.
Police then shut down the area around where he was last seen.
A police perimeter was maintained around 45th Street and pedestrian and vehicle traffic was diverted to allow for police activity and for safety reasons.
Just before 2 p.m., police received a tip from a local resident about the suspect's whereabouts. Police nabbed the suspect shortly after, Bolton said.
The suspect's identity was not immediately released. It was also not immediately known what the suspect allegedly did to violate his probation.
