BERKELEY -- A 7-year-old boy was hit by a car and is the hospital with serious injuries, a Berkeley police spokeswoman said Monday afternoon.
Officer Jennifer Coats said the boy was struck by a car at Bancroft Avenue and Acton Street at 4:03 p.m. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries but was in stable condition, Coats said in a statement around 6:30 p.m.
No one else was injured.
The driver stayed on the scene and was being interviewed by police, Coats said.
Coats said she did not have information yet from accident investigators on the scene about whether the child was in a crosswalk when the incident occurred.
