Malia Obama worked for Steven Spielberg last week as a production assistant on the Los Angeles set of Halle Berry's upcoming TV series "Extant."

A 15-year-old working for Spielberg? That must be some kid and certainly not one with a connection to someone who could make a phone call and turn Steven Spielberg's studio into a nuclear wasteland in an eyeblink.

Spielberg is producing the new CBS sci-fi series. President Obama's oldest daughter "helped with computer shop alignments and the director also let her slate a take," a set source told TheWrap.

There are worse ways for a kid to spend summer vacation.

No details were available about when Malia -- who will be a high school junior in a few months -- went to California, or how long she'll stay. Her parents flew to California last Friday and spent the weekend with Malia in Palm Springs. Their other daughter, 13-year-old Sasha, wasn't with the family.

Maybe she was in New York, filming with Martin Scorsese.

In a New Yorker profile on the president in January, in was noted that Malia wants to be a filmmaker and is a fan of HBO's "Girls."
