OAKLAND -- A 37-year-old man was shot in the back in East Oakland Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The man's name was not released. His condition was not immediately known but the wound was not considered life threatening, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 9200 block of Hillside Street. The man apparently lives in the area.
Police said the man was shot by someone who approached him on foot and then fled before officers arrived.
The motive has not yet been determined.
