SUNNYVALE -- A man wanted in the stabbing of his ex-girlfriend and the kidnapping of his 8-year-old child was arrested, according to police.
Jose Luis Valencia, 44, was taken into custody Tuesday by Sunnyvale detectives and booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
On June 19 at 9:39 p.m., a 33-year-old woman was stabbed more than once in the 500 block of North Britton Ave. She was taken to a hospital and treated for her injuries.
At the same time, officers learned an 8-year-old child had been abducted from the residence.
Police say Valencia is the father of the child and the estranged boyfriend of the stabbing victim. Police say Valencia made threats of suicide and harm to the child.
Police activated an Amber Alert and during the incident, received information about the child's location. Police were in communication with the suspect's family and were able to have the child brought to police headquarters.
The child was later reunited with her mother, who has since been released from the hospital.
