SARATOGA -- A man died late Wednesday night after his motorcycle collided with a tree, authorities said.
Santa Clara County Sheriff's officials did not identify the man pending notification of next of kin.
The man was headed westbound at about 11:30 p.m. on Cox Avenue near the intersection of Saratoga Creek Drive when he apparently lost control at a slight bend in the road. The crash scene was in a suburban area just north of the Highway 85-Saratoga Avenue exit.
Deputies quickly arrived, and started to perform CPR on the man, said sheriff's Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup. The man was wearing a helmet before the crash.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead a short time later.
Sheriff's investigators are trying to determine if drugs, alcohol or high speed were factors in the crash, Stenderup said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Santa Clara County Sheriff's traffic investigators at 408-868-6600.
