ANTIOCH -- The driver of a vehicle traveling on westbound Highway 4 struck and killed a pedestrian who was walking on the freeway early Sunday, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
The gender, name, age and city of residence of the pedestrian was not available late Sunday afternoon.
About 2 a.m., the person was walking in the right-hand lane on the highway, west of Contra Loma Boulevard, when the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, the CHP spokesman said.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
No arrests were made and no one else was injured.
