Two Oakland women were arrested Sunday after Scotts Valley police linked them to burglaries at two businesses.

About 5:30 p.m. Sunday, employees of CVS pharmacy on Mount Hermon Road reported two women suspected of stealing baby formula, Scotts Valley police Sgt. David Ball said. Because the employees described the 1998 Dodge van driven by the women and its license plate, police found it on northbound Highway 17. Officers stopped the driver and passenger near the Granite Creek Road exit.

Officers searched the van and found a large amount of baby formula and other merchandise, all suspected to have been stolen, Ball said. The pair in the van, 22-year-old Ayanna Morales and 20-year-old Deja Lambert, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy -- all felonies.

Police also linked the women and the van to a similar theft at Nob Hill Foods on Mount Hermon Road reported on June 27.

Scotts Valley police ask anyone with information to call the investigations unit at 831-440-5670 or the anonymous tip line at 831-438-8090.
