OAKLAND -- A woman struck by a Coca-Cola truck as she walked along Interstate 880 early Tuesday has been identified as a North Carolina resident, according to the Alameda County Coroner's Office.
Aquella Hall, 20, of Winston Salem, died after she was struck and killed by a truck about 4:20 a.m. near the 98th Avenue exit, according to the coroner and the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities were continuing to investigate how Hall ended up on the interstate, Officer Sean Wilkenson said Wednesday.
Hall, found lying in one of the northbound lanes, suffered major injuries and was later pronounced dead. The driver of a Coca-Cola truck that struck her remained on scene and was cooperating with the authorities.
The fatal crash shut down a portion of the interstate for about an hour-and-a-half.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the CHP at 510-450-3821.
