A 19-year-old man who was traveling as a passenger in a stolen vehicle led officers on a brief foot pursuit before he was taken into custody, police said.

The man also refused to comply with the commands of officers, who as a result used force to arrest him about 1:15 a.m. Sunday at Miramar Road and Pan Am Way on Alameda Point, police said.

Along with resisting and obstructing police, the man faces a charge of possessing narcotics after an officer found suspected methamphetamine in his wallet. The driver, who also fled on foot after abandoning the vehicle, eluded officers.

THURSDAY, JUNE 26

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- Vehicles were reported stolen about 8:20 a.m. in the 3000 block of Alta Vista and about 10 minutes later in the 3200 block of Fernside Boulevard. Another vehicle was reported stolen about 5:55 p.m. in the 2900 block of Main Street.

  • RECOVERED VEHICLE -- Police recovered a stolen vehicle about 10:50 p.m. in the 3000 block of Main Street.

    FRIDAY, JUNE 27

  • RESISTING POLICE -- A motorist consumed a suspected ecstasy pill during a traffic stop and then tried to run off, police said. The suspect, who was arrested about 12:15 a.m. in the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue, was also driving with a suspended license, police said. His age was not immediately available. In a separate case, police said a motorist grabbed and shoved a parking technician and tore up and tossed a parking citation onto the ground about 2:25 p.m. at Webster Street and Taylor Avenue.

  • RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- Police recovered a stolen vehicle about 3:10 a.m. in the 2700 block of Fifth Street.

  • VEHICLE VIOLATION -- A motorist driving a stolen vehicle refused to pull over for officers about 1:10 a.m. in the 1600 block of Buena Vista Avenue. Police called off the pursuit when the suspect's speeding threatened public safety.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen just after 3 p.m. in the 700 block of Buena Vista Avenue. Vehicles were also reported stolen about 4:25 p.m. in the 400 block of Willow Street and at 8:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of Bayview Drive.

  • OUTSTANDING WARRANT -- An 18-year-old man traveling as a passenger in a vehicle pulled over for a traffic violation on Webster Street was arrested after a background check revealed he was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, police said. The arrest occurred about 12:55 a.m.

  • RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE -- Police recovered a vehicle reported stolen to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office about 8:30 a.m. in the 3100 block of Bayview Drive. A vehicle stolen in Oakland was recovered about 7:50 p.m. in the 800 block of Taylor Avenue.

  • HOMELESS ENCAMPMENT -- An officer filed a police report about a homeless encampment with multiple derelict vessels that is located under a pier in the 1500 block of Buena Vista Avenue.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 11:05 a.m. in the 2500 block of Lincoln Avenue. Another vehicle was reported stolen about 12:45 p.m. in the 3500 block of Oleander Avenue.

  • ARSON -- Someone set fire to the jungle gym at McKinley Park. Police learned about the incident about 12:45 p.m.

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- A man, 52, was found in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia after officers contacted him while investigating a disturbance in the 1600 block of Versailles Avenue. The man, who was arrested about 2:10 p.m., was also carrying less than one ounce of marijuana, plus he was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failing to make a court date.

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 55, on suspicion of drunken driving about 9:30 p.m. after a witness reported that he was driving erratically. The man allegedly failed field sobriety tests after an officer pulled him over in the 400 block of Tideway Drive.

    SUNDAY, JUNE 29

  • PROBATION VIOLATION -- Officers dispatched to investigate a disturbance about 1:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Otis Drive arrested a man, 29, on suspicion of violating his felony probation by being out after his curfew. The man was also drunk and could not care for his own safety, police said.

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a 26-year-old woman on suspicion of drunken driving about 2:25 a.m. at Encinal Avenue and Walnut Street, where an officer initially detained her while investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood.
