OAKLAND -- Two men were shot Sunday night at an East Oakland apartment complex, police said.

Both are expected to recover from their wounds.

The men, ages 30 and 34, are friends, police said. Their names were not released.

The shooting happened about 10:12 p.m. Sunday at the apartment, in the 4800 block of Tompkins Avenue north of Interstate 580, where one of the men may have lived, police said.

Investigators said some kind of confrontation ensued between the two men wounded and at least one other person.

Police were trying to confirm if the shooting happened inside an apartment or outside.

The suspect fled before police arrived. The men were driven to a hospital by another person and were in stable condition, one with a head wound and the other with a back wound.

Police don't have a motive yet for the shooting.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
