SAN JOSE -- Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred overnight when a male driver veered off Santa Teresa Boulevard and crashed into a tree.
Officers responded to the collision just before 2 a.m. and found a vehicle had hit a tree on Santa Teresa just east of Miyuki Drive in South San Jose. The male driver, who was alone in the vehicle, died at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Police blocked off a stretch of Santa Teresa for several hours to investigate the collision. During the closure, a vehicle crashed into a parked police car, according to Sgt. Heather Randol. An officer inside the parked car was treated for a minor injury but is OK, Randol said.
Santa Teresa was reopened at about 8:30 a.m.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were factors in this collision.
