College Park High graduate Audra Kepler advanced to the U.S. Women's Amateur, carding an even-par 70 for second place in a sectional qualifier at Sequoyah Country Club in Oakland on Monday.

Fullerton resident Stephanie Lau was medalist at 2-under 68.

Oakland's Jordan Lippetz (71) and Manteca's Brooke Riley (72) also advanced to the tournament to be played Aug. 4-10 at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y.

  • Saint Mary's College standout Jonathan De Los Reyes is tied for 22nd after the first round of stroke play at the 89th U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in Newton, Kansas. De Los Reyes, a redshirt junior from Antioch, shot an even-par 71 at the 7,365-yard Sand Creek Station Golf Course. Michael Colgate, Garrett Rank and Zane Thomas are tied for first at 66.

    At the women's event in Dupont, Washington, Alameda's Grace Na is tied for 30th, six shots back after a first-round 73. Cindy Ha, 17, shot a 5-under 67 for the lead on the 6,169-yard, par-72 Home Course.

    Basketball

    Former Saint Mary's star Matthew Dellavedova scored a game-high 19 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 86-77 in the Las Vegas summer league.

    Baseball

    Cal third baseman Chris Paul has been selected to play in the Northwoods League All-Star game. Paul, an incoming senior, is batting .310 for the St. Cloud (Minnesota) Rox.
