CAMPBELL -- A San Jose man has been identified as the motorcyclist killed in a crash on San Tomas Expressway on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Mark Ellery Warren, 42, was traveling southbound on the expressway, just past West Hamilton Avenue, at around 4:15 p.m. when he crashed into the back of a truck-towed trailer in the center lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officer Ross Lee said Warren might have been caught by surprise by a slowdown in traffic and was unable to stop in time. The rider was thrown from his motorcycle and slid to the right shoulder of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
