San Francisco police are investigating a fatal shooting in the city's South of Market neighborhood early this morning.

Officers responded at 5:12 a.m. to a 911 call requesting help at Sixth and Harrison streets, but they arrived there and did not find a victim, police said.

Shortly afterward, a shooting victim showed up at San Francisco General Hospital and was pronounced dead, according to police.

Homicide investigators are investigating the shooting death. No arrests had been made in the case as of this morning, police said.
