OAKLAND -- A former Bay Area teacher was sentenced to more than eight years in prison for receiving child pornography, the U.S. Attorney announced Friday.

Russell Patrick Pfiester, 44, pleaded guilty in February to receiving more than 100 videos via the Internet through a peer-to-peer sharing network, according to court documents, though they did not specify which network.

The videos showed children, including prepubescent children, engaged in sexually explicit conduct, with some videos depicting sadomasochistic conduct, per court records.

Pfiester, formerly of Fremont, was previously employed at a Bay Area school, though court records did not say where.

In addition to his eight-plus years in prison, Pfiester will also have a 10-year period of supervised release, during which he will be prohibited from being near any location where children are likely to be.
