CASTRO VALLEY -- About 1,400 PG&E customers were without power on Saturday afternoon after a car crashed into a power pole in Castro Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol and the utility company.
The wreck took place at 1:28 p.m. near the intersection of Lake Chabot Road and Christensen Lane, close to Castro Valley Community Park, according to the CHP.
It was not immediately known if anyone was injured but all lanes of Lake Chabot Road were shut down as of about 2:50 p.m. after the car struck the pole.
During the wreck, two power poles and power lines fell onto the roadway, a CHP officer said.
The incident left 1,428 PG&E customers without power, a spokesman for the utility company said.
Power was estimated to be restored by 4:15 p.m.
