NEWARK -- An 18-year-old was arrested on Friday after police caught him rummaging through a teacher's desk inside a Newark elementary school classroom, authorities said.
Police went to Lincoln Elementary School at 36111 Bettencourt St. at 9:09 a.m. after a suspicious person was seen on campus.
While searching the school, police saw a classroom door ajar, and found Maxx Moran, of Newark, inside, apparently going through a teacher's desk, according to police.
Moran later admitted to breaking into the classroom, police said. Inside Moran's car, police found about $3,595 worth of computers and computer parts belonging to the school district.
Moran was arrested and booked into jail on burglary charges. School starts on Aug. 25 in Newark.
