SAN JOSE -- Two women found dead in a North San Jose motel room over the weekend have been identified as San Jose and Petaluma residents while the circumstances of their deaths remain unclear.
The bodies of Juliecel Aguja, 26, of San Jose, and Michelle Williams, 18, of Petaluma, were discovered lying on a bed in a second-floor room at the EZ-8 Motel on North First Street around 3:50 p.m. Sunday. A staff member went to the room to check on them after their "Do not disturb" door sign was displayed for several days in a row.
The women arrived at the motel Aug. 4 -- about a week before they were found -- and were checked in by another party, sources told this newspaper.
Police said the women's bodies were in the motel for at least a few days, based on apparent decomposition. Detectives did not find any obvious signs of foul play or any evidence of how they died. San Jose police turned the case over to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office to complete the investigation.
The coroner's office said Tuesday that the causes of the deaths were still being determined. There were no known records in either San Jose or Petaluma of the women being reported missing.
