NEWARK -- A pair of Fremont men who reportedly harassed customers at a department store and refused to the leave the business face felony charges after they allegedly threatened to kill two mall security guards.
Michael Elijah Watson and Omar Ibrahim Hade, both 18, were arrested on suspicion of making death threats, Sgt. Manuel DeSerpa said Wednesday. Hade was also arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest in connection to the Monday night incident at NewPark Mall just south of Mowry Avenue.
Officers were dispatched at 7:10 p.m. to the Sears store for a report of three men creating a disturbance, DeSerpa said.
Employees told police the men were harassing customers and refusing to leave the store. When two mall security guards approached the trio, two of them reportedly threatened to shoot the security guards.
The guards called police, who responded to the store and took the Watson and Hade into custody, then booked them into the Alameda County Jail.
Watson was due in court Thursday at the Fremont Hall of Justice to enter a plea in his case and remained incarcerated on $20,000 bond, jail records show. Hade remained incarcerated on $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday to be arranged on his charges.
