A Hayward man faces a sex-related charge after police said he exposed his genitals to a woman at a busy Hayward city intersection Thursday morning.

Authorities say Timothy T. Maloney, 32, was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure following the 10:30 a.m. incident near Mission Boulevard and Gresel Street.

The victim told police she was stopped at a red light in her minivan when a man in a green Ford Expedition pulled up next to her and honked his horn, Sgt. Mark Ormsby said.

When the woman glanced over at the man, he was holding his genitals and waving them around, Ormsby said.

After the man pulled the stunt twice, Ormsby said, the woman dialed 911 and took the suspect's license plate number down as he drove away.

Using the information, police went to the man's south Hayward home and arrested a suspect, identified as Maloney, after the victim identified him, Ormsby said.

He was booked into the Santa Rita Jail but was freed on an undisclosed amount of bail Friday morning, online records show.
