PALO ALTO -- A Mountain View man turned himself in to police after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with a sexual battery at a Palo Alto martial arts studio in May.

Jorge Alberto Tejada was arrested on suspicion of trying to kiss a 17-year-old student and employee at Hiruko Wellness, located at 2741 Middlefield Road, according to Palo Alto police. The teen told officers she had been taking taekwondo lessons at the studio since she was 11 years old and had more recently become a part-time employee. On May 23, told police Tejada had put his arms around her and held her close to him while they were alone inside the studio.

Police said the teen told them Tejada then took her face in both of his hands and attempted to kiss her. The girl repeatedly pulled away until he released her. The victim is now 18 years old, police added.

An arrest warrant was issued for Tejada on Aug. 4 for a misdemeanor charge of annoying or molesting a child. Tejada turned himself in Thursday.
