SAN JOSE -- Less than 24 hours after a man was killed by a hit-and-run driver near Los Lagos Golf Course, a second man sustained life-threatening injuries along the same road resulting from a hit-and-run collision, police said.
Officers and paramedics responded to Senter Road at Oldham Way around 8:15 p.m. Monday for reports of a pedestrian who had been hit by a car.
Police said only that the man who was hit is in serious condition and that the driver fled the scene and has not returned.
The collision comes less than a day after 51-year-old Son Hoang Nguyen was hit at Senter Road and Balfour Drive, exactly one block away. Nguyen later died from the injuries he sustained in the hit-and-run. The driver in that incident also has not been found.
Nguyen is the city's 11th pedestrian killed by a vehicle in 2014.
