SAN JOSE -- A 25-year-old San Jose man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run last weekend near Senter Road and Balfour Drive.

Christopher Uchicua was arrested Wednesday after he turned himself in to police and was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of felony hit and run. He allegedly hit 51-year-old Son Hoang Nguyen on Sunday, killing him, and then drove away.

About 9:51 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to Senter Road and Balfour Drive, west of Los Lagos Golf Course in South San Jose, for calls about a traffic collision. When they arrived, they found Nguyen badly injured, and though he was rushed to a hospital, he died the next morning.

Investigators have said they believe Nguyen might have been riding a bike when he was hit.

According to police, Uchicua fled the scene before officers arrived, but they have not said how they connected him to the collision.
