The host Dons (0-1) were unable to control a potent attack by the Knights (1-0) in the first East Bay high school varsity football game of the 2014 season.

Both of De Anza's touchdowns came via the pass. Alex Hernandez threw the first one, and 6-foot-3 sophomore Richard Kirbyson fired the second one, a slant pass to James Clark.

"Our biggest hurdle right now is that we have so many kids who are new, or are playing out of position," said De Anza coach Richard Gaskell, who also said his squad played much better in the second half. "We are a young team."
