ANZA, Calif.—A light earthquake has shaken the Southern California desert southeast of Palm Springs.

The automated Southern California Seismic Network reported the quake occurred at 3:38 p.m. Friday and was estimated at magnitude-4.1.

The quake was centered 15 miles southeast of the community of Anza and about 26 miles southeast of Palm Springs. Smaller tremors preceded the quake in the region about 110 miles east of Los Angeles.

Also Friday, a pair of 3.1-magnitude earthquakes struck around 7 p.m. near Trona, a remote area about 170 miles north of Los Angeles.
