Police late Tuesday were investigating a fatal shooting in downtown Oakland.

The shooting at 13th Street and Broadway was reported at 10:21 p.m., Oakland police said.

Oakland police could provide few details about the shooting.

BART police said the 12th Street BART station was shut down during the investigation.

BART police said that Oakland police asked to shut down the 12th Street BART station at 10:27 p.m. to look for suspects after the shooting nearby.

The closure did not cause BART delays though passengers at the 12th Street station at the time were evacuated.

There was no estimated time for the station to reopen, BART police said.
