The legend of La Llorona lives on. A young Xochil Indian girl falls hopelessly in love with a Spanish man in turn-of-the-century Mexico. She earns the wrath of the Xochil river, which takes its revenge in Hector Armienta's version of "La Llorona" ("The Weeping Woman"). A co-production with Teatro Latea, this Opera Cultura piece summons up the ghost of the lady in white once again. The haunting opera is the perfect way to celebrate the Day of the Dead. It runs Friday through Sunday at the Mexican Heritage Plaza, 1700 Alum Rock Ave., San Jose. $10-$40. 415-845-7216, www.operacultura.org.
