With its top two quarterbacks unavailable due to injury, Bishop O'Dowd High received 111 yards and two touchdowns rushing by Bryce Grandison and limited host Arroyo to 133 yards of offense and six first downs in a 21-7 victory on Sept. 29. The game was tied at seven entering the fourth quarter before a long Dragons drive ended with a 10-yard Grandison TD run. Teammate Wayne Thomas returned an interception 41 yards for the game's final touchdown. Bishop O'Dowd improved to 4-1, while Arroyo fell to 2-3. The St. Joseph Notre Dame High boys cross country team was moved from second place to first place in the Stanford Invitational Division V boys team standings after it was discovered that Crespi-Encino, the original champion, had competed in the wrong division on Sept 29. Crespi is listed by the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section as a Division IV boys team. The Pilots' winning score is now 55. Gabe Arias-Sheridan led St. Joseph Notre Dame with a third-place finish on the 3.1 mile course at Stanford Golf Course (16 minutes, 41 seconds). Other Pilot scorers were Michael Murphy (fifth, 16:59), Matthew Murphy (10th, 17:14), Louis Rodrigues (13th, 17:30) and Sam Levy-Wendt (27th, 18:07).
