OAKLAND -- Police on Tuesday released the ages and residences, but not the names of two men fatally shot Monday night as they drove in West Oakland.
One of the victims is 19 and the other 28. Both lived in Oakland. Their names were not released pending notification of relatives.
The men were shot about 9:55 p.m. Monday as they were driving in the 1000 block of Filbert Street. After the men were hit by gunfire, the car continued to the 1200 block of Filbert, where it stopped on a slight hill at Lowell Park.
The men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the Dodge Avenger the men were in belonged to a friend of the older man, and that the two men had ties to the area.
Officer Eriberto Perez Angeles, the lead investigator, said police don't have a motive yet for the killings and no arrests have been made.
Another shooting occurred in East Oakland, just after 10 p.m. Monday evening, police said.
The shooting was reported about 10:09 p.m. in the 1500 block of 94th Avenue. The wounded man was taken to a hospital in stable condition. Police don't have a motive and no arrests have been made.
