SAN LEANDRO -- Three people were arrested after several dozen pounds of dried marijuana and more than 5,400 marijuana plants were seized from warehouses in San Leandro and Hayward earlier this week, police said.
Police arrested Howard Wong, 47, of Oakland, Shuqin Cai, 39, of San Francisco, and Laikuan Liang, 52, of Alameda, on suspicion of marijuana cultivation in connection with the seizure.
At 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, San Leandro criminal investigators served search warrants at warehouses in the 600 block of Montague Street and the 1600 block of Factor Avenue, both in San Leandro; a warehouse in the 2300 block of Foley in Hayward; and an undisclosed building in the 1600 block of 8th Avenue in Oakland.
Detectives recovered 5,414 marijuana plants, 68 pounds of processed marijuana and $77,440 in cash in the three warehouses. The estimated street value of the seized marijuana plants is more than $2 million and the processed pot is worth about $150,000 on the street, police said.
