O'Dowd, Piedmont win WACC titles
The Bishop O'Dowd boys water polo team and the Piedmont girls water polo team won their respective divisions in the West Alameda County Conference Tournament. In the championship matches on Oct. 27 at Berkeley High, the Dragons defeated St. Patrick-St. Vincent 6-3, and the Highlanders beat Alameda 14-7. Bishop O'Dowd beat Berkeley 8-6 on Oct. 25 and Alameda 7-5 on Oct. 26, both at Contra Costa College, to reach the boys final. After a first-round bye, Piedmont defeated Bishop O'Dowd 19-5 in a girls semifinal match on Oct. 26 at Contra Costa College. -- Staff
Head-Royce wins BCL-East championship
The Head-Royce High girls tennis team defeated Bentley 5-2 on Oct. 23 in the Bay Counties League-East team championship match. Jenna Friedel and Kira Wang won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches in straight sets, and College Prep won all three doubles matches. The teams of Ishani Singhal and Samantha Haigood (No. 1 singles), Evelyn Eichler and Carly Wilson (No. 2 singles) and Cassandra Liew and Victoria Basket (No. 3 singles) were all victorious.-- Staff
