BERKELEY -- Stephen Hinshaw, a psychology professor at UC Berkeley, will talk about families dealing with mental illness at a lecture Nov. 14 sponsored by Congregation Beth El.
The lecture, titled "Stigma, Families and Mental Illness: Is Change Possible?" will discuss the reasons for stigma attached to mental illness, its effects and how to combat it.
Hinshaw is the author of "The Mark of Shame: Stigma of Mental Illness and an Agenda for Change ."
The lecture will be held at Congregation Beth El, 1301 Oxford St., Berkeley, and is open to the public.
