OAKLAND -- Police late Friday were investigating three homicides that occurred less than two hours apart on different ends of the city. The killings brought the city's homicide tally for the year to five -- all of them coming this week.
A woman walking her dog at Canon Avenue and Wellington Street, next to Dimond Park, found a dead man lying on the sidewalk about 3 p.m. He had been shot, but police speculated that he was killed in another location and his body dumped there.
Another man died after he was shot multiple times about 2:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of East 17th Street, police said. And at 4:15 p.m., a man driving a car was fatally shot in the 3400 block of West Street in West Oakland.
The victims' names, ages and hometowns were not released.
