OAKLAND -- After four people were shot and killed Friday in a period of six hours, Oakland police found themselves dealing with yet another shooting Saturday afternoon.
At 12:43 p.m., officers responded to reports of a triple shooting on the 5800 block of Harmon Street where two men and one woman suffered from nonfatal gunshot wounds. The three victims were transported to the hospital where they are in stable condition, police said Saturday night.
It is not known at this time if the shooting Saturday afternoon had any connections to the four homicides on Friday, when three men and one teenager fell victim to an ongoing deadly battle between "several groups" identified by Oakland police.
Tragedy first struck at 2:30 p.m., when an unnamed 22-year-old Oakland man was shot multiple times on the 2300 block of East 17th Street in East Oakland.
Initially, the victim at first was awake and talking to police on the scene but later died of injuries at Highland Hospital where he had been taken. Authorities have been trying to contact his next of kin Saturday before releasing his identity.
Roughly a half-hour later, former Oakland resident Larry Lovette, 30, was found shot to death on Canon Avenue at Wellington Street next to Dimond Park.
Police said they believe he was killed elsewhere before being dumped at the site.
At 4:15 p.m., Eddiebo Rodriguez, 20, of Oakland, was shot while driving in the 3400 block of West Street in West Oakland.
After Rodriguez was shot, his car rolled to a stop in a driveway of a home on the street.
People who knew him drove him in another vehicle to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:26 p.m.
Then, at 8:15 p.m., 17-year-old Oakland resident Ken Harbin was shot and killed on the 9400 block of Hillside Avenue, just blocks from where he lived with his family. His death marked the final homicide of the night.
