OAKLAND -- Police are investigating a fatal shooting Tuesday afternoon in East Oakland, the city's 29th homicide of the year.

A woman was shot and killed on Foothill Boulevard between 24th and Miller avenues about 2:45 p.m.

Police did not release the name or age of the victim. She was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police have not made an arrest in the shooting and a motive was not immediately known. Investigators did not release any suspect information Tuesday afternoon

The woman was shot while driving a car and the car came to a stop of Foothill Boulevard.

No one else was injured.
